Relating to God Pt. 2 (Meat & Potatoes - Week 3)

There is great power in presence.

I am most afraid when there is an awareness of how out of control I really am.

Do you have a relationship with God and if so, what does it look like?

Revelation 3:20 (NIV84) 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

Colossians 1:27 (NIV84) 27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Leviticus 19:2 (NIV84) 2 Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.

Matthew 5:48 (NIV84) 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NIV84) 23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify (Cause holiness) you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless (innocent, guiltless) at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In Matthew 10 where Jesus is sending out the 12 disciples to preach, he basically says this is going to be bad. You are going to be beaten and persecuted. And then Jesus says these words,

Matthew 10:40 (NIV84) 40 “He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives the one who sent me.

John 13:20 (NIV84) 20 "I tell you the truth, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.”

In the early stages of our Christian life, we do not watch with Jesus, we watch for Him. We do not watch with Him through the revealed truth of the Bible even in the circumstances of our lives.

John 13:5 (NIV84) He poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
